Set a Goal and Congratulate Yourself

We all play different roles in life and one can only assume that you want to achieve your maximum potential in all of them. My primary roles are Self, Wife, Mother, and Professional. Let’s begin by asking a simple self help question, “If you don’t set goals for yourself, how do you know if you have accomplished anything?”

That sense of achievement is a big motivator to keep on climbing those mountains of life, so it is essential to get your priorities in order and set goals, achieve, and give yourself credit every one of your successes.

To address goal setting for a wider audience, let’s address the misconception that setting goals is just for your career.

This is unfortunate because at home, where we play the roles of spouse, parent, and household manager, organization and achievement are key to all other successes. To those folks I recommend to use the term “life list” instead. When it is time to put pen to paper, if you prefer, scribble “LIFE LIST” at the top of yours. Maybe even put some doodles around it. Whatever makes you excited to continue. (more…)

Living Your Reality

After a long day when you go to bed, right before sleeping, what is the last thing in your mind?

When you wake up in the morning, what is the first thing you think of? It totally depends on what you do and who you are. For most of us, those last and first thoughts are related directly to what is a problem in our lives. For a mother might be things like what to cook tomorrow, how to cope with teenager hormones and moods, or perhaps, how to pay for that gift that is really out of the budget.

For so many people, those last and first thoughts are directly related to their jobs. Many are worried of loosing that income, even though they can’t stand working there. Many are working extra hard to get that promotion, to improve their performance, to be in a better situation.

But what can drive you to be a better worker if you don’t like what you do? (more…)

Living The Impossible

Everyone, at some point of his or her life, has dreamed of being somebody special, somebody big. Who hasn’t fantasized about being the one who hits the game-winning homer? Who hasn’t dreamed of being the homecoming queen? And how many times have we dreamed of being rich, or successful, or happy with our relationships?

Often, we dream big dreams and have great aspirations. Unfortunately, our dreams remain just that – dreams. And our aspirations easily collect dust in our attic.

This is a sad turn of events in our life. Instead of experiencing exciting adventures in self actualization, we get caught up in the humdrum of living from day-to-day just barely existing.

But you know what? Life could be so much better, if only we learned to aim higher.

The most common problem to setting goals is the word impossible. Most people get hung up thinking I can’t do this. It’s too hard. It’s too impossible. No one can do this. (more…)

What Could Innovation Do For Your Life?

It’s a talent that everyone has, yet they think they don’t. The power of innovation. If you’ve ever marvelled at somebody’s creative prowess, guess what, you can create and innovate too. It just takes time. Everyone is born creative. The box of crayons in kindergarten were not limited to those who possessed potential; because the truth is, everybody has potential.

You know how long it took to learn to ride a bike or drive or to never commit the same mistake again? It’s the same with innovation. It takes a  bit of practice and a lot of time before this mind function comes easily  when called. This article will teach you a few tips on how to bring innovation into your life.

Don’t listen to what other people say. Follow the beat of your own drum. Allowing for the input of other people will only bring cacophony to the music you are trying to make. If you have an original idea, don’t waste your time and effort trying to make people understand. They won’t. And the help you will probably get comes in the form of negative feedback. If all those geniuses listened to their peers, we would probably still be living in the middle ages. (more…)

Make a Life Time Commitment!

Take a day for reflection every now and then.
Everyday goes by for new thoughts and ideas. It is fascinating to think that you can reflect the days and no one can accuse you for being wrong. I mean who decides what is right and wrong? If we are lucky we wake up in the morning.
When you go to bed in the night what do you think?
Are there any reflections? Does it have to be any dramas for your thoughts to show up? There are so many opportunities out there. Think and reflect.
Like my day today. It started off little later then normal. No worries. I was working by the computer to figure out some stuff. In the afternoon I had a late lunch with my youngest daughter and later on my oldest one came a long. We took a cup of coffee together. It was nice weather and I called a friend of mine to go for a walk. He showed up. We were walking for an hour and a half. It is refreshing and nice to catch up with a good friend. That’s the good part of living the life (more…)

  • Alternatives To Leading A Double Life

A great writer, perhaps Thoreau, once said that many people were ‘living lives of quiet desperation’. If only it were that simple! His familiar saying implies that some people, perhaps a lot of them, are unhappy with the way their lives are now and want to change things for the better. I think it’s worse than that. While they may look in the mirror and don’t like what they see; while they may get up in the morning and don’t like the work they have to go to; while they see rich and successful people on their TV, in their newspapers, and in magazines; they don’t just feel unhappy and unfulfilled. They also console themselves with daydreams about how they could be there too, out there, where they want to be.

What’s wrong with that? Only one thing. It means you’re leading a ‘double life’. Just as ‘mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent’ was the alter ego of Superman, so there are plenty of other ’secret identities’, in every office, every factory, every workplace. While they may seem harmless enough, and are going about their daily lives in a humdrum way, you might just catch them once in a while, staring out of the window and dreaming of how things could be, given – well, whatever you think is going to save you, a win on the Lottery perhaps, or just ‘being ‘discovered’ by that talent scout, the photographer, that agent, whatever. Eric Berne, the man who invented ‘Games People Play’ back in the ’60s, called it ‘Waiting for Santa Claus’, and you can see what he means. There you are, where you don’t want to be, hoping against hope that one day you’ll be ‘rescued’ and off you go, to a new and (more…)
